Fatwa Placed On KILLING MIRANDA
May 9, 2005According to the U.K.'s Terrorizer magazine, London's KILLING MIRANDA recently found themselves the subject of a fatwa (a religious decree, or judgment, issued by a recognized Islamic legal authority) after contributing music to the adult film "58 Bridge St" starring Muslim porn star Sahara. Attention was drawn to the movie after a recent edition of tabloid newspaper The Sun featured a two page article describing how Sahara has been shunned by her family.
In a statement, the band said, "KILLING MIRANDA would like to make it clear that we were not aware of any religious issues regarding this film when we agreed to contribute the music. We would like to distance ourselves from the controversy surrounding this film and do not wish to be dragged into any religious debates as a result of our involvement."
